I’m currently attending the AMIA 2009 conference. I’ve really enjoyed it so far and it’s proven to be worth the 12 hour plane journey from New Zealand.
Just 3 hours after getting off the plane, I was presenting my slides as part of the Social Networking and Second Life workshop with Ed Hammond, Constance Johnson, Parvati [...]
Article by Dr Bill Cast from No More Clipboards, a personal health records company on why doctors hate EMRs:
“Today most EHRs and EMRs are invasive both to workflow and finances. While high cost is a significant barrier to physician adoption, workflow disruption remains the killer deterrent. Most proprietary softwares offer a limited palate of practice [...]
Forbes have an article about Epic Systems which is a nice overview of the company:

I'm glad to be seeing another student on here :) I'm in my first semester and it's going pretty well. I am formally a graphic designer and the companies (Anheuser-Busch Distributors) I worked for would always sell; so, I decided to turn my background hobby into to art teaching. Art teachers are the first to go in the education system; so, I decided to take a 9 month accelerated program to obtain my CPC (Certified Professional Coding) Certificate. I passed the exam in July and now working on my masters in Health Informatics. I think they go hand in hand with the healthcare and IT world.
I also just landed a position at a Foundation and I'm really excited to be putting my new knowledge into practice. I will be a Billing and Coding Analyst. I hope I will be able to advance with the degree after I obtain it in 2011.
Thank you for the friend request and I look forward to learning more about what you are doing with your education.
