hello sir,
how are you sir, I need your guidance in making International Classification of Disease (ICD database) for medical data collection in Hospital setup. I plan to do ICD Database using open source (PHP & SQL) to collect mortality & morbidity data from discharge summary as my project for completing Masters in medical informatics.

Hi US,

Nice to hear from you, however I am not interested in Practice Management systems. I appreciate that there is lots of interest in EHRs, however the total costs involved don't make this matter a subject that should be taken too seriously in developing countries at this time. My own province, Ontario, Canada, just wasted over US$500 million in a failed EHR initiative.

Best regards,

Ron

Electronic Medical Records management is indeed one thing that we need to pursue. It helps to reduce the under reporting of disease conditions, saves from wrong prescriptions that are served at the dispensaries. It also ensures that bad hand writings by prescribers will be things of the past.
More importantly, loss of revenue will be reduced.
There are a lot of benefits which needs to be derived from the Electronic Medical Records management.
We in Africa have a lot of challenges.I hope to expantiate on the challenges of EMR in Africa and also how these challenges can be overcome in my next comment

Hello US,
ope you are faring ok. In my opinion i think we can share whatever info we have on this site. Am interested in learning more about the practice mgt system you mentioned. Am looking forward to developing disease-specific data bases at community level. I dont know if this has any inclination to the practice mgt you mentioned.
thx for the invitation

Why Doctors Hate Electronic Medical Records (EMR)

Article by Dr Bill Cast from No More Clipboards, a personal health records company on why doctors hate EMRs: “Today most EHRs and EMRs are invasive both to workflow and finances. While high cost is a significant barrier to physician adoption, workflow disruption remains the killer deterrent. Most proprietary softwares offer a limited palate of practice [...]
