Sayeed - it is an interesting topic. Have a look in the Proceedings of the IMIA triennial events 'MEDINFO' as I believe there may be some scientific papers to complement your studies.

TRy google scholar , Medline (or PubMed, and Biomed Central. Some articles are not free but that should start you off, and give you some more keywords to chase up / explore more.
Make sure you check for all spellings of the keywords you feel important, also check the 'stems' of the words e.g. 'cardio' and well as 'cardiology' in order to get to look at papers that deal with subtopics in addition to cardiology per se.

This response covers the next question also.

I'm not sure that we have a good role for you in the project, but send me your resume and I'll think about it.

I know Berners co-author, Marion Ball. The book series has a good reputation albeit published in 1998 (not sure of what the second edition has). Try also http://www.openclinical.org/dss.html As to your topics, my advice would be to search simplistically on keywords of each and decide from how large and interesting to you is the body of knowledge on the subject already. You need some context in which to set your thesis.

I have been at the World of Health It Europe congress in Copenhagen and a wide range of case studies addressing decision support were outlined - so it is obviously a big topic. For general context information I would suggest you separately Google authors Heather Heathfield, Alan Rector and Jeremy Wyatt in the UK - their work is well respected in the field and may give you topics to explore. Why do you not focus on your own clinical area for your topic, I cannot give you specific suggestions as the topic should be developed and agreed between you and your supervisor

I think it is important and an appropriate topic - but you need to talk to your academic supervisor to determine the local priority.

Sayyed - it depends on the learning outcomes against which you will be marked. Remember that CDSS may mean different things to different people / countries so make sure you scope and agree the focus of your thesis topic (?perhaps to one clinical area) before you start or else it will get too large to capture. I always tell my students that they may not be able to cover the whole field in their thesis and to make sure that what they do choose as a subject demonstrates their skills relative to getting the academic award - it can easily be taken further as a larger piece of work afterwards, but you must do what you have to do to get your recognition and degree as a first priority at this stage.
Good luck Jean

Why Doctors Hate Electronic Medical Records (EMR)

Article by Dr Bill Cast from No More Clipboards, a personal health records company on why doctors hate EMRs: “Today most EHRs and EMRs are invasive both to workflow and finances. While high cost is a significant barrier to physician adoption, workflow disruption remains the killer deterrent. Most proprietary softwares offer a limited palate of practice [...]
