Check out our website late next week and we should have course descriptions. In the meantime, the certificate will be 20-22 units, and is offered through University Extension
The courses are: Introduction to Health Informatics; eHealth; Electronic Medical Records; Intro to Project Management; Intro to Databases; The American Health Care System; Decision Support; and Professional Development in the Health Informatics Field.
Hi Chitongo

You guys actually provide synchronus online elearning in Healthcare!!??
Could you share more about the courses you offer? I am a relative veteran in this field and i have never come across courses in health informatics with synchronus online LMS.
HiChitongo,
Good you've made a decision to join this field. You know Africa needs us.
i dont know in which country you are, but if you are in any of this countries; Malawi, Tanzania,Zambia, Ethiopia or South Africa you may be lucky. Log onto the University of Oslo's website and get into the Department of Informatics. This university in collaboration with universities in the above-mentioned countries offer Masters in Health Informatics course. There are a few scholarships available and private students are accepted. Even if you go in as a private student the fees are greatly subsidized. dont just dream of the field, GO FOR IT. I am doing the same course as a private student and all i have is a job as a volunteer. Let the sponsorship not deter your determination, go for it.
Wish you luck.

Hiya all,
This is an awesome forum/blog. I just googled informatics and I landed here. Its been interesting reading all these replies and i have been trying so hard to enter into a program in health informatics/ telemedicine/ e-health. the main issue is scholarship.
also there arent many schools offering telemed or ehealth. I applied to University of Tromso, NOrway and i was rejected, reason? they said 'my first degree does not corelate with doing a masters in telemediine'. I must have studied medicine or a health related course, or strictly computer science.
So i ask you guys, I am interested in telemed, my 1st degree is Environmental Biology, I hav since moved in IT (Certificates and trainings in Cisco, Oracle DBA, etc) but I still have a passion for telemed since I was brought up as a doctors son and in an hospital environment. I wanted to study medicine but opted for biology as a 1st degree. My question is this: where can i find a school for training in telmed, ehealth, informatics etc and my 1st degree will not be an hinderance? They all state that i must be in a health related field or have studied computer scienec or watever as 1st degree. Can't a man change his mind? I need help here and fast please.
